Fitness February Featuring #FitMoms: Meet Heather Miller
Next up in our Fitness February series is Heather Miller, a working mom of two little, highly energetic girls.
"With kids, it is too easy to get lost in the daily grind," shares Heather. "I found myself floating through the days, prioritizing everything around me except for myself. Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, I knew something needed to change. That's when I truly decided to find the meaning of self-care."
Heather found self-care through exercise and strength training. She dedicates a full hour every morning to challenge my body through High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to help her feel accomplished, energized and ready to tackle her days.
"It wasn't easy to get into the routine of waking up at 5:30 a.m. every morning (because.. well.. kids...), but I promised myself to make myself a priority, and I did not look back. To me, it's about the mindset. The physical results are a plus, but the driver is to reset my mental health each day, which has been a game changer."
Heather also started layering in healthy eating habits and made it a lifestyle. "It is incredible what your body can do for you when you take care of it," she added. "Over two years later and I still show up, every single day, which has helped me feel like a better mom, wife, and version of me."
Her advice to other moms? "It doesn't happen overnight, it's a journey. Start making yourself a priority and kick-start your journey too."
